Job Overview:

The Dietary Assistant performs diversified duties in diet office, e.g. maintains diet records, tallies food requirements and other similar tasks. In this role they will collect patient menus and forms menu correction. They ll follow standard practices and comply with regulatory requirements while ensuring that patients are satisfied with their meals and receive the items they chose.

Qualifications:

Required:

High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

Graduate of Dietetic Assistant/Technician ProgramOne year food service experienceBasic knowledge of normal and therapeutic nutrition

Scheduling Requirements:

Shifts vary, such as 7:00am-3:30pm and 11:00am-7:30pmRotating weekends and holidaysFull Time

Essential Functions:

Answer telephone taking messages and relaying information as necessary using proper etiquetteAssists patients with menus, making all efforts necessary to see that patient receives his/her choiceConducts point of service on assigned floors in a timely mannerConsistently follows posted schedules and attendance policyCorrects modified menus, at patient bedside, and with patient concurrence whenever possibleDemonstrates the ability to identify what the patient's educational needs areMaintains inventory of menus and suppliesMonitors the effects of dietary service through meal roundsParticipates in the interdisciplinary teaching processPrepares production reports and generates to appropriate areaProcesses requisitions from computer according to procedureProvides basic diet information to patients on diets
