Job details The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for performing skilled diagnostic, repair, and maintenance work on a fleet of diesel-powered vehicles, including heavy and medium-duty trucks, trailers, and other related equipment. Responsibilities:
Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, hydraulics, and other vehicle systems using computerized diagnostic equipment and traditional repair tools.
Perform major and minor repairs, including engine overhauls, component replacement, and complex system adjustments.
Perform routine and preventative maintenance on trucks and equipment, including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement, and fluid checks.
Follow established checklists and schedules to ensure all critical parts are examined.
Perform safety and regulatory inspections (e.g., DOT/FMCSA) on vehicles and complete necessary documentation.
Ensure all work is performed in compliance with local, state, federal, and company safety regulations.
Maintain detailed and accurate records of all services, repairs, and inspections performed, utilizing a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or work order system.
Manage parts inventory and order supplies as needed.
Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Skills:
Experience working on heavy-duty, or medium sized trucks preferred
Experience working on RVs/campers considered a plus.
Proficiency in using computerized diagnostic software and handheld tools for troubleshooting.
Strong working knowledge of diesel engine components, fuel systems, and emissions controls.
Completion of a two-year technical school program or vocational training in Diesel Technology or a related field strongly preferred.
Welding/fabrication experience (arc, wire feed, stick) for minor repairs on trailers or equipment considered a plus.

High School

1-4 years

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or Technician.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
Ability to lift parts (up to 50+ lbs), stand for long periods, and work in various weather and shop conditions.
Ability to read, write, and understand English.
