Job Summary The Assistant POL Superintendent supports fuel terminal operations at a U.S. Navy installation, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant handling of liquid fuels. This role coordinates with contractor teams and government personnel to maintain operational readiness, environmental compliance, and uninterrupted fueling support for mission-critical activities afloat and ashore. Minimum 5 years of experience in liquid fuels and terminal operations, including 1 year in a supervisory role. Roles and Responsibilities + Manage daily POL operations across all annexes in alignment with Navy regulations, DoD policies, and the Performance Work Statement (PWS). + Oversee receipt, storage, transfer, and distribution of petroleum products. + Supervise maintenance of POL infrastructure including tanks, pumps, pipelines, valves, meters, and control systems. + Ensure readiness and safe operation of pressure-type hydrant and pantograph fueling systems. + Lead and direct fuel system technicians, ensuring adherence to safety and environmental standards. + Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve operational issues and schedule maintenance. + Integrate POL support with fire protection, logistics, facility services, and equipment maintenance. + Conduct inspections, verify quality assurance, and maintain accurate documentation per Navy standards. + Maintain fuel inventory records, system status reports, and maintenance logs. + Assist in training and certifying personnel on POL systems, safety, and environmental compliance. + Support contingency fueling and emergency response operations. + Perform additional duties as required to meet operational goals. Basic Qualifications + Strong knowledge of Navy and DoD fuel handling, safety, and environmental regulations. + Ability to interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, and maintenance procedures. + Effective leadership, communication, and coordination skills. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. + Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. + Must pass overseas medical screening and possess a valid driver’s license (manual and automatic transmission). Preferred Qualifications Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Energy Certifications: + Fuels Manager Defense (FMD) + Base Level Defense Fuels Management + Responsible Officer, Terminal Manager, Property Administrator Education & Experience: + High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred. + 5 years as a qualified liquid fuels system maintenance technician. + 2 years of specialized experience with pressure-type hydrant and pantograph systems.
