at every level within the organizationJob SummaryThe Patient Scheduler is responsible for optimal workflow scheduling and coordination of non invasive cardiology procedures according to department protocols which includes procedural screenings collecting documenting and obtaining complete and accurate all patient medical history necessary to ensure appropriateness and safety for all procedures Demonstrates commitment to providing an excellent service experience for patient and their familiesKey areas of responsibilityAppropriately schedule and or reschedule departmental procedures according to specific modality protocols and patient care requirements maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines Ensures completion and accuracy of providers order in relation to requested appointment type for compliancemedical necessity and communicates discrepancies to provider office Register patient if requiredObtains all relevant patient information including current lab values and medication usage current history and physical as well as other pertinent medical history necessary for ensuring patient safety and to obtain accurate diagnosis Obtains current complete and accurate patient insurance information to ensure full reimbursementCommunicate educate and instruct patients on detailed procedural preparations provide complete instructions on specific aspects of their procedure and post procedure instructionsProvides office support to meet the unit needs Function as a point person interacting in a courteous manner with patients patient families providers nurses administrative staff internal and external to HHC in the coordination of patient care such as but not limited to answering question triaging calls obtaining patient transport required equipment office experience preferredMedical terminology preferredPreferred Two years scheduling diagnostic imaging proceduresKnowledge Skills and Ability RequirementsGeneral understanding of optimal patient flow imaging procedures and preps and patient history requirements for imaging proceduresKnowledge of the principles and practices of providing excellent patientcustomer services and experienceWorking knowledge of medical terminology to include diagnosis and CPT codes and Medicare National Coverage Determination for insurance reimbursement requirementDemonstrates commitment to service excellence in daily contact with patients physicians co workers and visitorsDemonstrates knowledge of required age specific gender ethnic and cultural aspects in performance of duties to accommodate patient needsAbility to read and understand instructions and communicate effectively written and verbal in order to provide information and instructionsIntermediate computer skills excellent interpersonal
