DG BOSS: Wastewater Treatment Plant Worker (FN)Performs daily tasks and work orders involving wastewater treatment operations and maintenance.Performs service and routine order work on time and ensure wastewater systems are restored to a safe, normal working conditions and function properly.Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings and test results to determine load requirements.This worker starts and stops pumps, engines, and generators to control the flow of water or raw sewage through filtering, settling, aeration, and sludge digestion processes, maintains a log of operations and records meter and gas readings, perform routine operations and maintenance, and may collect water and sewage samples.Maintains log of operations and records meter and gauge readings.Performs preventive maintenance of sewer systems including lagoon aerators, lift stations, holding tanks, portable latrines, grease straps, and sewer manholes.Performs vacuum pump-outs of holding tanks, portable latrines, and grease straps and visits naval vessels (ships and submarines).Monitor wastewater treatment plant operations, check equipment and report abnormal operating conditions and discrepancies to Supervisor for correction actions.Performs sampling of WWTP lagoons at various times throughout the workday.Delivers sampled wastewater bottles promptly to the laboratory for testing.Operates the sewerage facilities so that wastewater is continuously collected, transferred, treated, and disposed of without any spill or overflow incidents.Efficiently operate and maintain the wastewater treatment plant and collection system to safely collect, transport, treat and dispose of wastewater without any spill or overflow incidents to ensure all sewage requirements are continually met.Requires a working knowledge of operating systems and the ability to adjust controls to ensure operating efficiencies.Set/up, dismantle, and perform preventive maintenance checks and services for Wastewater Treatment systems.Ensures the wastewater treatment plant maintains compliance requirements & applicable regulations.Performs other work-related duties and responsibilities as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.Basic Qualifications
All wastewater treatment plant workers handling hazardous substances (HS) shall be trained in procedures for response to spills or releases. The procedures for response to spills or releases are included in Annex 18.Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures relating to wastewater treatment plants.Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate the assigned vehicles.Preferred Qualifications
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS OR TRAINING
Training or experience in the management of solid waste, water treatment, wastewater treatment, water sampling and analyses, hazardous materials, and hazardous waste processes is preferable.Successful completion of Hazardous Waste training requirements:➢ Hazard Communication
➢ Overseas Hazardous Waste Facility Operator
➢ Overseas Hazardous Waste Generator
➢ Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER)
➢ Hazardous Substance Incident Response Management (HSIRM)
EDUCATION:
Must be at least a High School graduate is required; a Technical School or Vocational Course graduate.EXPERIENCE:
One (1) year related experience in either water or wastewater treatment plant operations.
