DevSecOps Kubernetes SME

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT:

Transform technology into opportunity as a Kubernetes Subject Matter Expert (SME) at GDIT. Shape what’s next for mission-critical government projects while shaping what’s next for your engineering career. As a Kubernetes SME, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of Department of Defense Combatant Command, US Central Command. You will play a crucial role in enabling DevSecOps, CI/CD, and mission-ready application deployment through Kubernetes, Docker, and emerging DoD container technologies.

Serve as the technical lead for all Kubernetes-related initiatives across enclaves.

Architect, deploy, and manage Kubernetes clusters and container runtimes.

Support container security, RBAC, compliance (e.g., STIG, RMF), and image scanning using DoD-approved tools (e.g., Trivy).

Collaborate with DevSecOps engineers to integrate Kubernetes into CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab).

Design and support container orchestration for microservices and legacy modernization efforts.

Contribute to Zero Trust Architecture enforcement within Kubernetes workloads.

Provide mentorship and technical guidance to team members and support ATO documentation.


WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Bring your engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Software Engineer Senior must have:

 Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).

Technical skills:

Experience in containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).

Deep knowledge of IaC tools (Terraform, Helm, Ansible) and GitOps best practices.

Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification

Preferred Skills:

Certifications preferred: Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Docker Certified Associate (DCA), or similar.

Experience with platform engineering, Kubernetes-native services (Ingress, Service Mesh, etc.).

Familiarity with DISA STIGs, and DoD container security guidance.

Ability to support development teams modernizing legacy apps for Kubernetes delivery.

Ability to teach and expand knowledge to existing workforce.

Security clearance level: Secret clearance required, TS/SCI eligibility preferred

Role requirements:

Experience supporting DoD, IC, or mission-critical environments.

Strong understanding of DevSecOps, security hardening, and compliance in Kubernetes environments.

Familiarity with IL5/IL6 cloud environments (VMware Tanzu/VKS/VCF).
