The Launch and Missile Defense Systems division within Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a DevOps Engineer/Principal DevOps Engineer. The position is located on-site in Boulder, CO.  Boulder is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and only 25 miles from downtown Denver.

Position Overview:


The DevOps Engineer plans and evolves processes and infrastructure to execute programs which support rapid maturation and deployment of capability while sustaining a stable security posture and configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both internally developed and externally purchased commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software products. Integrates development pipelines leveraging automation with test-driven development tools. Designs, develops, automates, and maintains productivity tools using programming, database or scripting languages to improve software modeling and development.

Designs and implements build procedures that are used to support software product development and use. Functions with agile principles to execute efficiently in an environment of continuous feedback. Ensures implementation of Software Configuration Management (SCM), code quality, and code coverage with automated testing for Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines. May develop software configuration standards for company-wide use. May train software developers in the use of configuration management tools and the implementation of software quality standards.

Applying configuration management methodologies to systemsSupporting Development Teams throughout software development lifecycleDesigns, develops, automates, and maintains productivity tools using programming or scripting languages to improve software developmentDrive innovation through discovery and implementation of processes for continuous improvement.Ensures implementation of Software Configuration Management (SCM), code quality, and code coverage with automated and manual testing on executable codeCollaborating with software teams using Agile MethodologyCatalyze development teams in adoption of DevOps practices especially using automation.Utilize Jira to document bugs and enhancementsEnhancing and sustaining maintainability, security and control of system software.

Basic Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications for DevOps Engineer or Principal DevOps Engineer:

DevOps Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of experience, or 6 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.Principal DevOps Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years experience, or a PhD and 0 years of experience, or 9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.Intermediate Linux OS experienceIntermediate Python, Perl or shell scriptingAbility to work multiple tasks concurrentlyComfortable working with software toolsAbility and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needsApplicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application and is required to start.

Primary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
