Parent Infant Programs is a child development services agency that is dedicated to maximizing the development of children through exceptional child and family intervention. We provide early intervention services to very young children experiencing challenges to their development. Parent Infant Programs supports caregivers in maximizing their child's development through enhanced participation in everyday experiences with their family & community.

Job Summary Job Summary

Parent Infant Programs provides direct services to families with children ages 0-5 who have a need in one area or more of their development or a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome or Epilepsy. As a Developmental Consultant your role would consist of supporting caregivers by focusing on the child’s individual needs and different areas of development. This is an independent yet supported position that relies on time management skills to be able to provide direct services to families in a variety of settings.

Primary Responsibilities

Develop a working relationship with parents wherein they can utilize developmental information and supports to enhance their relationship with their child Ensure parents have the tools and support to appropriately advocate for their child Discuss the developmental needs, strengths and limitations of the child with the parents Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate learning experiences for the child in relation to their levels of functioning, parent concerns, goals and IFSP objectives Managing personal client schedule; maintain minimum expected frequency of visits with the family as determined in the child’s Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP); reschedule missed or cancelled appointments Monitor child’s development and maintain appropriate and accurate documentation (including but not limited to, home visit notes and HELP charts), update goals, develop and generate twice yearly reports Support families in transitioning from PIP services at age five to other appropriate services Interact and collaborate with professionals, including Parent Infant Programs staff and Regional Center staff in a positive manner to facilitate successful relationships Develop appropriate developmental activities based on monitoring instruments, anecdotal observations

 

Provide information to support other staff so the program design and integrity is maintained across the organization.

General Responsibilities

 Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including health and safety.

Minimum Productivity Expectations

 

Developmental Consultants are expected to bill a minimum of 5 hours direct client hours per day Monday through Friday (approximately 100 hours per month based on 20 business days).   This full time position and direct hours expectation allows 2-3 hours a day for indirect activity time which includes but is not limited to driving, training, collaboration, scheduling, report writing and administrative tasks. 

 

Physical Requirements

 

Typical Working Conditions:

Consultants work from home offices, in the homes of families served by Parent Infant Programs, in public areas such as parks and recreation centers and in childcare centers.  Conditions vary widely.  They include but are not limited to: heat, cold, dust, mold, animal dander

 

Equipment Used:

Developmental consultants drive their own vehicle, use desk and/or cell phones, laptop and keyboard

 

Essential Physical Tasks:

Standing, chair and floor sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, walking, running, negotiating stairs and playground equipment including slides, swings, merry go round, reaching out and over-head, lifting up to 40lbs, pushing/pulling up to 50lbs and keying and driving
