Responsibilities

We are seeking an individual that will take responsibility for test implementation of NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) and other tests as well as providing leadership, training, and guidance to other employees.  This person will also perform routine patient care testing within the lab.  Some tasks include but are not limited to validations, updating procedures, providing technical support for routine lab operations, monitoring ongoing software updates, following up with the vendor if there are equipment issues, and acting as the "go-to" person for other employees.  

Responsible for developing, evaluating, and implementing new test/equipment, methodologies, or products for the laboratory under the intellectual and scientific guidance of laboratory directors and staff consultants. Responsible for: 1) Improvement of existing methods or implementation of new technology of proven validity; 2) Maintain complete and accurate documentation of data generated and work performed; 3) Organizing new method validation data, preparing data for publication and peer review, and participating in formal presentations within the institution; 4) Aiding in the investigation, installation, evaluation, and purchase of laboratory equipment, instrumentation, reagent systems, and other specialty items and 5) Participates in the training of laboratory staff, residents, and students in principles of methods and application within the laboratory as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Medical Technology, or a related field. Minimum 3 years of laboratory experience. 

Additional Skills and Qualifications:

Excellent leadership, organizational, written and verbal communication, and problem-solving skills. Self-motivation and attention to detail. Ability to reproduce a reference method using available procedures without supervision. Demonstrated analytical and scientific competency with development and/or validation of lab techniques or procedures. Proficiency in software for word processing, database management, statistical analysis, and presentations. (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Maintains a record of scientific presentations and peer-reviewed publications. 

License or Certification: 

Molecular Technologist Florida License.  An ASCP MB certification or similar is required for the Florida License
