Development Engineer / Analyst
The successful candidate will support the Project Services team within the Project Development and Execution organization at Southern Power. This position will provide engineering, equipment, and construction contracting support to major capital projects.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the engineering equipment and contract needs for project development and execution for any/all generation technologies (gas, wind, solar, battery storage, etc.). Evaluate construction/project risk exposure and implement mitigations through contractual language and terms. Provide support to projects and construction for contract interpretation and claims/dispute resolution. Use and develop competitive processes, procedures and tools. Cost estimation for major equipment, BOP, construction services. Technical due diligence support for acquisition opportunities. Ensure contractual obligations are known, tracked, and met. Support lessons-learned strategy.Candidates with the following preferred qualifications are encouraged to apply:
Education
A four-year degree is required with a preference for engineering, supply chain building science, finance, economics or accounting (or equivalent) discipline.Experience
3+ years experience administering and/or developing contracts. Understanding of different contracting strategies as relates to project risk and project requirements. Experience in the power and / or renewable energy industry is desired. Experience in evaluation/due diligence, and implementation of solar, wind or gas-fired projects is beneficial. Experience in, and/or interacting with the following disciplines: engineering & construction, business development, project development, operations & maintenance, finance, accounting, procurement, environmental compliance, permitting, and transmission, is desired.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
