Job Description

As a Developer III, you will play a key role in a collaborative, agile team responsible for designing and delivering scalable, enterprise-grade solutions within our domain engineering group. This team builds reusable services that solve complex logistics problems such as freight scheduling and optimized routing. You will contribute to architectural decisions, mentor junior developers, and drive continuous improvement in development practices.

You will work closely with product owners and stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into robust technical solutions that support Expeditors' mission to set the standard for excellence in global logistics.

This position is on-site and will reside in the greater Seattle, WA. area at one of the following locations depending on availability. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

3-5 years of professional software development experienceBachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent practical experienceStrong proficiency in Java and object-oriented programmingSolid understanding of software design patterns and architectural principlesExperience with SQL and relational database conceptsFamiliarity with Agile/Scrum methodologiesProven experience writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with Java tools and frameworks: Maven, JUnit, Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPAFamiliarity with front-end technologies: React or Angular, TypeScript, RxJSExperience with cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, or Google CloudUnderstanding of REST APIs, GraphQL, and event-driven architectures (e.g. Apache Kafka)Experience with containerization and orchestration tools: Docker, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, TerraformComfortable working in UNIX/Linux and Windows environmentsExperience mentoring junior developers or leading small technical initiatives

Additional Information

Expected base salary:  $110,000 to $175,000
