The Desktop Support Technician II provides advanced technical support for Zurn Elkay associates across our Lumberton, NC locations and remote sites. This role is part of the Global Zurn Elkay User Support team that is mainly responsible for meeting the IT support needs for the enterprise at all locations. This role is deeply embedded in our plant and warehouse operations, supporting technology that keeps production running efficiently and safely. This specific position requires a solid understanding of the Microsoft Windows OS (desktop and Server), Microsoft Azure, basic networking concepts (wireless connectivity, VLANs, WAN/ LAN, etc.), data storage concepts, printing, scanning among other skillsets. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, enjoys being out on the floor working directly with equipment and teams, and approaches problem‑solving with curiosity and enthusiasm. Responsibilities also include resolving support requests, maintaining equipment standards, managing assets, and coordinating with Infrastructure teams to deliver a stable, modern plant technology experience.
Key Accountabilities
Work collaboratively with other site support technicians to ensure smooth day-to-day administration, project implementation and maintenance of local infrastructure.
Ensure stability and performance of network and plant technology environments (Switches/Wireless/Manufacturing 4.0, Plant equipment, etc.).
Collaborate with team members to recommend and implement enhancements to overall network and plant infrastructure and architecture.
Work with the team to align Plant Technologies Infrastructure with business objectives and roadmap.
Provide guidance and direction in identifying and implementing solutions to meet changing business requirements and evolving IT Infrastructure and architecture.
Continuously assess new technology to identify opportunities for operational improvements and increased efficiency.
Service Desk support for 2500+ remote users. Provides timely and considerate customer service to end users by fielding service desk calls and resolving technical issues.
Provides on-site and remote technical support to the employee base and escalations to additional Level 3 support or other IT resources when applicable.
Executes desktop deployments, upgrades, repairs and replacements, equipment break/fix and repairs
Prepares and delivers computer equipment to new employees and trains new employees on the use of the equipment in accordance with the Employee On-Boarding process.
Reclaims and ensures the proper disposition or repurposing of computer equipment in accordance with the Employee Off- Boarding process.
Demonstrates ability to diagnose and resolve issues with various hardware and software solutions.
Works in collaboration with the Infrastructure team to test and certify new hardware and software solutions for use in the corporate environment.
Qualifications/Requirements
BA or BS Computer Science, Information Security, or equivalent work experience.
3+ years’ experience as a desktop technician in a global manufacturing and corporate business environment.
Experience in various equipment break/fix and repairs, asset management and supporting equipment corporate standards.
Experience working within a remote, highly collaborative, global team
Experience with cloud-based Microsoft Office products
Requires lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds
