Ou Fort Mill, South Carolina (SC) office is looking for a CAD Operator or Designer with 8+ years of experience to join our Land Development team!
ResponsibilitiesLead the development of high-quality technical drawings and civil site plans using Autodesk Civil 3D
Implement and maintain drafting standards, workflows, and quality control procedures across projects
Perform and review complex design calculations with minimal supervision
Collaborate with engineers and project managers to incorporate engineering principles and resolve design challenges
Mentor, train, and supervise junior CAD staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment
Coordinate drafting efforts to meet project schedules and maintain deliverable quality
Maintain and organize drawing databases and file management systems
Serve as a technical resource on CAD standards and best practices across teams
Gain familiarity and align work with Kimley-Horn’s internal practices, procedures, and quality expectations
Qualifications8+ years of CAD design experience, with an emphasis on civil site development
Expert-level proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D is required
Strong understanding of civil engineering concepts, grading, utilities, and site layout
Proven ability to lead drafting efforts on complex projects independently
High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate’s degree or technical training preferred)
Ability to manage plotting/printing settings and coordinate final deliverables
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines
Self-starter with a proactive mindset and a commitment to mentoring others
