What We Do – Accountabilities 

Lead the creative development for the international Sam Edelman handbag category. Present and deliver brand-right handbag designs that tie back to the overall seasonal footwear and trend concepts. Present designs, materials and trend boards to external partners as well as key cross-functional internal partners. Actively participate in both footwear and handbag design reviews with the Design Team and Product Development team. Select and review raw materials and trims; ensure maintenance of material/trim library. Liaise with brand merchandising team, licensing team as well as key partner in China. Create detailed sketches and technical drawings (using illustrator as needed) to produce tech packs for Asia manufacturing partners. Execute detailing and spec entry for each seasonal collection. Ideal candidate works under minimal supervision, exercising a moderate degree of scope/decision-making.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years in leather handbag design, ideally within the luxury segment. Proficient understanding of international consumer preferences and product knowledge, with emphasis on handbags and accessories – Asia Pacific a plus. Intact knowledge and experience in technical handbag design High proficiency in Adobe suite, including InDesign and illustrator. Ability to listen, be empathetic, and work professionally with diverse business partners. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Fluency in Mandarin a plus.
