Design Manager
The Standard, Mexico City
The Standard, Mexico City arrives in the historic Tabacalera neighborhood with character, color and a signature wink. The hotel will feature 206 rooms and suites, 27 branded residences and a leafy “secret” garden sure to become the city’s favorite hideaway. Our debut in Latin America raises the aesthetic stakes, drawing from sun-washed CDMX architecture and a sensual, organic palette.
A bright café and late-night diner keep the ground floor lively from early mornings to the final nightcap. Above it all, a rooftop pool, signature restaurant and outdoor bar take in striking views of the Monumento a la Revolución. Each room and residence includes a private balcony, offering a front-row seat to the city.
The spa delivers thoughtful indulgence with a hydrotherapy, saunas and pools, plus a fitness studio with classes from yoga to HIIT. Set among Tabacalera’s galleries and creative corners, The Standard, Mexico City blends social energy with laid-back escapism in a way only The Standard can.
We are now looking for a Design Manager who will embody our Anything but Standard ethos and help shape The Standard, Mexico City.
Your role
As our Design Manager, you’ll partner with our General Manager, Senior Executive team, and our New York-based Corporate Design team to bring a wide range of interior design and creative initiatives to life across the property.
As part of our senior team, you’ll take the lead on critical FFE projects and refurbishment works, ensuring design concepts and interior schemes remain on brief, on time, and on budget. You’ll have creative responsibility for the ongoing evolution and staging of our guestrooms, suites, restaurants, bars, and public areas, making sure every detail feels considered, culturally relevant, and unmistakably The Standard.
Day-to-day, you’ll act as the go-to for all hotel design projects. You’ll develop scopes of work, manage RFP processes, build project timelines, and oversee supplier relationships. Working closely with our Engineering team and external consultants, you’ll ensure documentation is accurate, compliance requirements are met, and installations are delivered seamlessly within a live, high-volume environment.
Once projects are approved, you’ll manage procurement, coordinate deliveries, and oversee installations to ensure every element lands as intended with minimal operational disruption.
You’ll also be the guardian of our design ethos across the property, from furniture layouts and lighting schemes to styling details and seasonal updates. This includes regular walk-throughs of guestrooms and public spaces to maintain standards and identify opportunities for creative enhancement.
In partnership with Events, Marketing, and FB, you’ll deliver distinctive finishing touches for launches, collaborations, and cultural activations that surprise and delight.
This is not a ‘Standard’ Design Manager position. You’ll need instinct, stamina, and the ability to translate creative vision into tangible spaces under pressure. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced, design-forward environment and feel as confident presenting strategy as you are being hands-on during installations.
