We’re looking for an on-site Design Engineer (PEng) in the product development and OEM manufacturing industry.
Our client is an innovative and forward-thinking engineering team based in Edmonton, Alberta, known for creating proprietary OEM products that redefine how pumps, motors, and controllers are designed and built. With a strong focus on R&D, this company fosters a culture of creativity, experimentation, and continuous learning. The Design Engineer will be responsible for designing complex mechanical and electrical systems from the ground up, with an emphasis on innovation and product development.
Design Engineer responsibilities:
· Design OEM pumps, motors, and controllers from concept through to final product
· Own the full design process, including detailed mechanical and electrical integration
· Engage in iterative design processes, including prototyping and testing
· Conduct hands-on R&D work, contributing to 80% of the company’s innovation focus
· Solve complex, open-ended engineering problems with a creative, trial-and-error approach
· Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers and designers
· Independently manage project tasks, timelines, and deliverables in a highly self-directed environment
The successful candidate has:
· 5+ years of experience in detailed mechanical/electrical product design, preferably within an OEM environment
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering
· PEng designation in Alberta (or eligibility to obtain)
· Proven experience designing components for pumps, motors, and/or controllers
· Strong prototyping and testing experience, from early-stage concepts to final iterations
· Excellent problem-solving skills and comfort with ambiguity and non-linear development
Compensation and benefits:
· The discussed salary range is $90,000 – $120,000 depending on experience
· Candidates with additional experience and higher compensation expectations may also be considered
