The Derivatives Clearing Officer and Senior Float provides support for exchange traded options and backup and support for all functions within the Contracts & Options departments. They will also provide support for other desks such as SCI Option desk, US and Canada Equity Clearing and Trade Administration. **Is this role right for you? In this role you will:** + Work closely with the institutional trading desks and collaborate with external counterparties to facilitate smooth trade executions, resolve trade discrepancies, and maintain strong professional relationships + Oversee the investigation and resolution of Scotia Capital USA (SCUSA) option trade and position breaks related to the Option Clearing Corporation (OCC) + Ensure timely reconciliation of discrepancies across internal system and the OCC + Drive remediation for any cash variances and balance control account + Execute start-of-day cash settlement with the OCC, ensuring accuracy in payment initiation and receipt process + Process option exercise and assignment and notify internal stakeholders of assignment and exercise activities from previous trade date + Generate and submit daily regulatory reports + Take appropriate action for institutional execution and settlements and supportSCUSAMiddle Office + Monitor corporate actions, ensuring special settlement instructions are reflected in the appropriate accounts + Work with the team to complete requirements of Option weekly/monthly expiry + Provide cross-functional support across departmental roles such as Trade correction, Option desk for SCI and any new desks as required, ensuring operational continuity and fostering team collaboration + Provide client service in accordance with Scotia Service Standards **Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:** + A University Degree or College Diploma or equivalent + Canadian Securities Course (CSC) or working towards is an asset + Solid understanding of options trading concepts, including call and put, expiry, position type (long/short, open/close), exercise, assignment, etc. + Experience with trade reporting systems such as Arrow, AS400, BPSA, Webpost,On Demand OAES and Broadridge products (pertaining to trade processing) + Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel + Experience with Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corporation (CDCC) and OCC derivatives clearing systems/platforms for clearing of options + Strong logic and analytical skills to interpret the flow of transactions and assess trade-related issues + Quick decision-making and prioritization skills in high-pressure situations to support timely trade clearing and issue resolution + Clear and concise communication, both written and verbal to accurately convey trade details, exceptions, or inquiries + Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills to build trust and maintain effective communication with partners + The ability to collaborate in team development, assist in training, mentoring and knowledge-sharing initiatives to promote continuous improvement Location(s): Canada : Ontario : Toronto Scotiabank is a leading bank in the Americas.
