Position Overview

QinetiQ US is seeking a skilled Deputy Senior Operations Research Analyst (Deputy SORA) to support a federal law enforcement agency client. This role provides critical analytical support to the Senior Operations Research Analyst and assists in delivering advanced analytical capabilities to support agency leadership in decision-making, policy formulation, and strategic planning.
The Deputy SORA will assist in formulating and applying mathematical modeling and optimization methods to develop and interpret information that assists agency leadership with operational decisions. This position requires strong analytical skills in predictive analytics, data visualization, operations research, and strategic planning to support the Law Enforcement Lifecycle.

Responsibilities Predictive Analytics & Modeling SupportAssist in development, maintenance, and enhancement of agency suite of Discrete Event Simulation (DES) modelsSupport analytics and reporting requirements meetings with agency and stakeholdersHelp identify gaps in agency decision support tool development and assist with improvement recommendationsSupport evaluation and implementation of artificial intelligence, data visualization, and business intelligence platforms including Python, GitHub, Qlik, Tableau, ArcGIS, Databricks, and Palantir FoundryAssist in maintaining agency-related geospatial capabilities and Logistics Optimization Decision Support ToolsSupport recurring model maintenance and governance activitiesAssist in preparing models for official DHS accreditation including documentation developmentData Visualization & EngineeringSupport design and development of visualizations using standard and non-standard datasetsAssist in building and maintaining data pipelines for smooth data flow from multiple sourcesPerform extract, transform, load (ETL) operations under senior guidanceSupport data quality reviews, cleaning, and validation processesAssist in integrating structured and unstructured data from disparate sourcesConduct data analysis to identify patterns, insights, and trendsSupport development of scalable data systemsAssist in implementing security measures for sensitive data protectionStrategic Planning & Assessment SupportSupport evaluation of logistics systems, processes, and tools for agency operationsAssist with business process re-engineering and requirements gathering activitiesHelp create user guides, standard operating procedures, and training materialsSupport change management activities for new tool adoptionAssist in developing process efficiencies within headquarters and field operationsAdvanced Research & StudiesSupport special projects including proof of concepts and prototype developmentAssist with research and evidence building for agency modernization effortsSupport issue investigation and root cause analysis activitiesAssist with new process development and implementationProvide support for field deployment of new technologiesAdministrative and Project SupportAssist Senior SORA with project coordination and stakeholder communicationSupport documentation and reporting requirementsMaintain project tracking and status updatesProvide backup coverage for critical analytical functionsAssist in the professional and technical development of fellow staff Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or related quantitative fieldMinimum 10+ years of experience in operations research, predictive modeling, or data analyticsExperience with government contracts and federal agency support preferredExperience in law enforcement, immigration, or homeland security domains desirableTechnical SkillsProgramming & Analytics: Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and statistical analysisBusiness Intelligence Tools: Experience with Tableau, Qlik, Power BI, or similar platformsDatabase Management: Experience with database systems and basic data warehousing conceptsModeling Software: Familiarity with simulation software and mathematical modeling toolsGeographic Information Systems: Basic experience with ArcGIS or similar geospatial toolsCloud Platforms: Exposure to Databricks, AWS, Azure, or similar cloud-based platformsVersion Control: Basic experience with GitHub or similar development platformsCore CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsBasic mathematical and statistical modeling capabilitiesUnderstanding of machine learning and data science conceptsData visualization and presentation skillsExperience with data processing and ETL conceptsUnderstanding of data quality and validation principlesStrong communication and teamwork skillsAbility to work independently and manage multiple tasksSecurity RequirementsAbility to obtain and maintain appropriate federal security clearance.Background investigation required.Must be U.S. citizen.
