About the Role:

We are seeking a Deputy Operations Safety Lead to support a major cross-border infrastructure project in East Africa. This role is critical in ensuring that health, safety, security, social, and environmental (H3SE) standards are consistently upheld across field operations in Tanzania. The successful candidate will coordinate safety activities, support contractor oversight, and contribute to the development and implementation of H3SE systems and procedures.

Key Responsibilities: Assist the Field Operations Safety Lead (OSL) in managing H3SE matters across Tanzanian sites. Coordinate and support site H3SE supervisors, ensuring consistent safety practices. Stand in for the OSL or site supervisors during absences. Monitor compliance with H3SE policies and procedures during construction and commissioning phases. Support contract preparation and contractor performance assessments. Contribute to the development of H3SE management systems and operational procedures. Facilitate safety training, awareness campaigns, and work permit processes. Analyze H3SE KPIs and incident reports to identify trends and implement corrective actions. Participate in audits, inspections, and risk assessments. Assist in waste management planning and industrial hygiene initiatives. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geological Sciences, Occupational Health, or related field. HSE certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH); ISO 45001/14001 familiarity preferred. Minimum 12 years of experience in operational environments, ideally in oil & gas or industrial construction. At least 5 years in a safety leadership or supervisory role. Strong knowledge of HSE management systems, industrial hygiene, and environmental protocols. Excellent coordination, communication, and analytical skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and competence management systems. Fluent in English; Swahili is a plus. Unlock your potential.
