Contract duration: Until the end of the year, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance.
Set up: 8 weeks on – 2 weeks off (Mon–Fri, occasional Saturdays)

Role Overview:
Join our dynamic project team as a Deputy Lead Process Engineer, where you'll play a critical role in the refurbishment and upgrade of a major FPSO facility. Based in Lagos, Nigeria, this position offers a unique opportunity to lead high-impact engineering work in a technically challenging and rewarding environment.
You will support the Lead Process Engineer by coordinating and executing process engineering activities throughout the detailed design, brownfield modification, and commissioning phases. The role will emphasize process optimization, safety compliance, system integration, and offshore readiness.

Key responsibilities: Assist in managing, coordinating, and providing technical direction for all process engineering activities. Lead and review complex process simulations (HYSYS, PRO/II, Aspen Plus) for various operating scenarios. Oversee detailed design and modifications to production, separation, gas compression, water injection, and utility systems. Develop and review core process deliverables: PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, line sizing, pressure drops, and control philosophies. Ensure all designs meet international codes and standards (e.g., API, ASME, ISO, NORSOK). Conduct and participate in process safety reviews (HAZOP, HAZID, SIL). Interface with multi-disciplined engineering teams, vendors, regulators, and classification bodies. Support commissioning, start-up planning, and offshore tie-in strategies. Participate in FAT/SAT, constructability reviews, and technical procurement evaluations. Act as deputy for the Lead Process Engineer during absences. Mentor junior engineers and ensure quality control of deliverables. Promote adherence to project QMS, process safety culture, and HSE compliance. Skills & Qualifications:

Technical Competencies: Expert in chemical engineering principles and offshore process design. Advanced proficiency in process simulation software (HYSYS, PRO/II, Aspen Plus). Strong knowledge of fluid dynamics, heat/mass transfer, and thermodynamics. In-depth experience with offshore processing equipment (separators, pumps, exchangers, etc.). Understanding of process control systems and instrumentation. Leadership & Communication: Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring engineering teams. Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities. Clear, concise verbal and written communication skills in English. Software Proficiency: Process software: HYSYS, PRO/II (mandatory); Flaresim, PIPESIM (preferred). Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Education & Experience:
•  Degree: Bachelor’s (B.Eng/B.Sc) in Chemical or Process Engineering from an accredited institution.
•  Professional Certification: Chartered Engineer (e.g., COREN, CEng, PE) is highly preferred.

•  Experience:
Minimum 10–15 years in process engineering within the offshore oil & gas sector.
At least 5 years in a senior role on FPSO refurbishment or brownfield upgrade projects.
