Deputy Director
Job Description The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York Bureau City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations, and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation. The School Safety Division is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for the 1.1 million school children, faculty and visitors in over 1800 schools in approximately 1400 Department of Education facilities citywide. The School Safety Division is seeking a qualified candidate in the position of Deputy Director (Associate Supervisor of School Security, M-II). Under the direction of the Command Officer of School Safety Division, the Associate Supervisor of School Security M-II, designated Deputy Director, Administrative Operations will assist in managing, overseeing, and directing the commands and both Civilians/Uniformed members of the service that are deployed at approximately 1,800 schools and other sites Citywide. The Deputy Director will assist regarding the allocation of the Personnel and other resources among the School Safety Divisions various units to ensure each command is adequately covered; coordinate the overtime, detail assignments; assist in the development and implementation. Oversee the tracking and preparation of performance evaluations and the performance monitoring proceedings to ensure that field and support personnel adhere to all Department rules and regulations. This position will also serve as a liaison to the Borough commands and prove guidance on disciplinary procedural issues. Deputy Director, Administrative Operations will have input in the development, formulation and implementation of programs, policies and procedures to improve and enhance operations of the School Safety Division. A four year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent, and five years of full-time satisfactory experience in law enforcement, security and/or public safety; or 2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "1" above. Special Patrolman Designation Must be qualified for designation as a Special Patrolman as set forth in Chapter 13 of the Rules of the City of New York. This designation must be maintained for the duration of employment. License Requirement Must possess a motor vehicle operator license valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.
