As Department Supervisor III at Mercy Hospital’s Physician Practices, you will oversee the Patient Service Specialists and the technical and administrative functions to ensure daily operations of the seven locations and their practices are running smoothly. Utilizing your experience and managerial skills, you will serve as a technical resource for team members, implementing goals, and driving improvement initiatives. Some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include conducting morning huddles, managing escalations, finding coverage for call-offs, and ensuring the Patient Service Specialists care for all patients as if they are family. This role provides an excellent way to enhance the patient's experience, all while developing new skills, gaining extensive hands-on experience, and finding your place within an innovative healthcare setting.  

 

A caregiver in this role works Monday-Friday from 8:00AM – 4:30PM. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Supervise caregivers in daily operations.  

Maintain staffing levels.  

Approve and schedule paid time off and leave requests.  

Provide leadership and training.  

Coordinate and provide orientation and education.  

Analyze workflow and procedures.  

Identify and implement opportunities to improve procedures, processes, speed, quality and effectiveness.  

Ensure cross coverage.  

Develop an effective work team.  

Encourage and support morale building activities.  

Communicate with caregivers and provide orientation on policies.  

Lead and implement large process improvement projects. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Associate’s Degree 

Three years of related supervisory experience 

OR High School Diploma/GED and five years of experience may substitute the work experience and education requirements 

OR Bachelor’s Degree and one year of experience may substitute the work requirement.  

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

Bachelor’s Degree 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods

Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment

Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information

Ability to travel throughout the hospital system

In some locations, ability to transport up to 25 pounds 

May require the ability to operate various types of powered material handling equipment.
