Main responsibilities:

The Credentialing & Enrollment Specialist is responsible for managing the credentialing and payer enrollment processes for retail pharmacists and pharmacy locations. This role ensures timely and accurate submission of applications to insurance plans, Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), and government programs to support billing and reimbursement operations. The specialist serves as a liaison between pharmacy staff, payers, and internal departments to maintain compliance and operational readiness.

Coordinate and submit credentialing and enrollment applications for retail pharmacists and pharmacy locations to insurance companies, PBMs, Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payers. Maintain and update credentialing files including licenses, certifications, DEA registrations, NPI numbers, and other required documentation. Track application status and follow up with payers to ensure timely processing and resolution of issues. Monitor expiration dates and proactively initiate renewals for credentials and contracts. Collaborate with pharmacy managers, billing teams, and compliance departments to ensure credentialing aligns with operational needs. Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding credentialing status, documentation, and payer requirements. Assist with audits and reporting related to credentialing and enrollment activities. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific regulations and standards. Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive provider and pharmacy information.

We are looking for candidates who possess the following:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in healthcare credentialing, pharmacy operations, or payer enrollment; retail pharmacy experience preferred.
  Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and credentialing software. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Familiarity with pharmacy billing and payer requirements is a plus.

Physical Environment:

Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment. Ability to sit for long periods at desk or computer. Will use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment. Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
