The MITRE Intelligence Center is seeking a Department Manager (DM) for its Multi Domain Force Intelligence Department located in McLean, VA. The Department Manager reports to the Managing Director, Service Intelligence Division, and serves as a member of the newly formed Service Intelligence Division leadership team.
The Multi Domain Force Intelligence DM will lead the Department in its mission to enhance our sponsors’ policy formulation, planning, and strategy execution across the national security enterprise through all-source intelligence and resource analysis that informs decision-making to address threats in an era of strategic competition. The Department guides the formulation and implementation of strategy and policy that enables sponsor transformation and address emerging national and global challenges by unlocking the full potential of intelligence analysis to advance the missions of our sponsors. DM must be familiar with the missions, organizations and technical areas of key importance to U.S. Armed Forces Intelligence organizations and commands, specifically the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security (OUSD I&S), The Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), and the National Ground Intelligence Center (NGIC). The DM is responsible for the execution of the Division strategy, and the delivery and execution of the Service Intelligence work program by aligning the workforce and technical capabilities to deliver mission value.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience managing an organization, a record of engagement at senior levels of the government, and the ability to operate and interact effectively in a large, complex, matrixed, and dynamic organizational context. They will have demonstrated outstanding and timely results in leading projects that have significant enterprise-wide impact, while building trusted relationships and exemplifying MITRE’s values and professionalism.

IntegrationCollaborating and partnering with senior MITRE leadership in other divisions and innovation centers to plan and align work program development strategiesBuilding relationships, networks, and potentially new organizational constructs across MITRE driving cross-sponsor approaches to increase the value of the FFRDC PlatformDeveloping and deploying cross-agency solutions to solve national security challenges
Technical OversightLeading, planning, and executing the work program to ensure mission impact and technical quality while bringing forward consistency, innovation, and best practicesOverseeing technical and strategic quality of division project plans, capabilities, and deliverables
Staff development and workforce shapingShaping a high-caliber team to deliver high-value, high-impact work, ensuring that staffing levels are maintained for critical skills and that the right people are placed in the right jobsRecruitment and retention of a highly skilled workforce
Business and Financial AcumenEstimating, informing, and meeting targets for revenue and delivery to MITRE sponsorsSetting and managing overhead and indirect budgets for division operations
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 10 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 7 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.Deep subject matter expertise in Department of Defense (War) organizations and operations to include strategies, plans, activities and effortsDeep understanding of Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security and the Office of Naval Intelligence organizations, authorities, and operational constructsExperience with all aspects of management activities including work shaping, budgeting, reporting, and staff planning and selectionExperience in talent acquisition; identifying, recruiting, and onboarding new talent, and proven ability to develop a high performing teamSuperior sponsor engagement and communications skills and experience in politically sensitive, executive-level customer contextsKnowledge of MITRE’s value proposition, organizational structure, work programs, and Intelligence Center effortsDeep working knowledge of the Military Intelligence ProgramBroad knowledge and familiarity with the US intelligence and national security communitiesExperience meeting cost, schedule, performance, and quality for sponsor workExperience building and executing large complex endeavors from strategic, operational, and financial perspectivesSuccessful record of engagement, relationship-building, and collaboration in complex national security environmentsDemonstrated ability to work across organizations and integrate efforts to achieve more impactful outcomes.Active Top-Secret SCI ClearanceThis position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site presence.Preferred Qualifications:
