Department Assistant Receptionist
Description We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Department Assistant Receptionist to join our team in New Hyde Park, New York. In the Department Assistant Receptionist role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations by managing scheduling, handling communications, and supporting administrative tasks. The Department Assistant Receptionist position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and develop your skills. Responsibilities: • Greet visitors and patients in a courteous and friendly manner, ensuring a positive first impression. • Manage incoming calls by answering inquiries, directing calls, and taking messages as needed. • Schedule and coordinate appointments efficiently, using electronic medical records (EMR) systems when required. • Provide administrative support, including distributing faxes, managing referrals, and maintaining accurate records. • Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless communication and workflow. • Assist in training new staff on standard operating procedures and office tools. • Utilize Epic software for scheduling and medical records, with training provided if not already familiar. • Handle sensitive information with confidentiality and care. • Address patient concerns or direct them to the appropriate department when necessary. • Support additional receptionist duties as required to maintain office efficiency. Requirements • Previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role is preferred. • Strong organizational and multitasking skills to manage a variety of responsibilities. • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients and staff. • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems, such as Epic, is a plus but not required. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. • Proficiency in basic office equipment and tools, including fax machines and scheduling software. • High level of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information. • Knowledge of healthcare systems such as TRICARE or NIS is advantageous but not mandatory.
