DEPARTMENT ASSISTANT

Essential Duties

Assists in office - scheduling of patients and transferring of telephone calls. Assists patients, technologists, and physicians as needed. Retrieves results, prepares paperwork, faxes information, scans documents/orders/results , and files documents/orders/results Works closely with the Health Care Team. Assist with electrocardiographic examinations, cardiac stress tests, and holter monitoring as ordered by physician. Maintain departmental records, reports and files as directed.  File and/or scan recordings.  Retrieve previous recordings for comparison.  Enter patient data, retrieve and review data in/from computer terminal. Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control. Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.  Maintain stock levels and materials.  Report malfunction of equipment to supervisor. Attends the monthly staff meeting and offers input into the overall plan of cardiopulmonary service. Demonstrates positive guest relation skills and professionalism behavior in dealing with all hospital contacts.  Demonstrates commitment to professionalism.  Maintains an open mind in dealing with any situation. Agrees to comply with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, rules, regulations, and standards of conduct relating to the position and has a duty to report any suspected violations of the law or the standards of conduct to his or her immediate supervisor, the Compliance Officer, or the Chief Executive Officer.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, on‑the‑job training.  Clerical and filing abilities.  Ability to deal courteously with patients, physicians, co-workers, and other health care workers.

Certified in basic CPR course

 

Working Conditions

Safe, well-equipped patient care environment. Lifting, pushing, and pulling equipment and frequent, prolonged standing and walking.
