Job Description
The Dental Receptionist provides essential front-office support in a busy dental practice and serves as the first point of contact for patients. This role focuses on delivering a positive patient experience by managing appointment scheduling, patient communications, and administrative tasks that support the dental team and ensure smooth daily operations.
Responsibilities
+ Greet patients and visitors in a professional, courteous, and welcoming manner upon arrival.
+ Schedule, confirm, cancel, and reschedule dental appointments as needed to support patient and provider availability.
+ Manage a high volume of incoming phone calls while maintaining excellent customer service and clear communication.
+ Enter, update, and maintain accurate patient information in the electronic scheduling and medical record systems.
+ Coordinate daily schedules for providers to ensure efficient patient flow throughout the day.
+ Maintain patient confidentiality at all times and comply with all office policies and procedures.
+ Support overall dental office operations by assisting with front desk and clerical duties as assigned.
+ Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to address patient needs and resolve scheduling or administrative issues.
+ Assist with prior authorizations and other healthcare administrative tasks as needed.
Essential Skills
+ At least 1-2 years of experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar front desk role in a healthcare setting.
+ Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and electronic scheduling systems.
+ Experience handling prior authorizations in a healthcare environment.
+ Strong front desk and clerical skills, including accurate data entry and record keeping.
+ Ability to manage high-volume phone calls while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
+ Excellent customer service and communication skills, both in person and over the phone.
+ Ability to protect patient confidentiality and follow office policies and procedures.
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Previous experience in a dental or broader healthcare environment.
+ Ability to coordinate complex schedules and adjust to changing appointment needs.
+ Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
+ Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
+ Comfort using office technology and software related to healthcare and scheduling.
+ Interest in gaining valuable experience in a busy healthcare organization.
Work Environment
This role is based in a busy dental practice with a fast-paced, patient-focused environment. The practice operates during the following hours: Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The position is full-time at 40 hours per week, scheduled within these operating hours. Some Sunday availability is required, and there is potential flexibility in scheduling, including the possibility of four 10-hour shifts, depending on practice needs. The role involves working at the front desk, using electronic medical records and scheduling systems, answering phones, and interacting with patients and staff throughout the day in a professional office setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spring Valley, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
