**Req Number** 166355 Job Description Assists Dentist during examination and treatment. Performs dental prophylaxis. Takes, develops and mounts x-rays. Cleans dental instruments and equipment. Prepares and mixes amalgam and other filling compounds. Job Responsibility + * Provides dental prophylaxis using dental unit. + * Takes, develops and mounts x-rays. + * Assists Dentist during examination and treatment of patients. + Seats patients and adjusts chair. + Drapes patient with sterile or other covering. + Lays out dental instruments and supplies. + Hands instruments to Dentist during examination and treatment. + Retracts patient's mouth, operates suction equipment, sponges or swabs mouth at intervals, administers mouthwash, and assists during extraction of teeth and other surgical treatments. + * Cleans and disinfects dental instruments and equipment. + * Prepares and mixes amalgam and other filling and impression compounds. + * Oversees and lectures visiting dental hygiene and dental assisting students. + * Assists Dentist during surgical procedures in dental and operating rooms by passing instruments, equipment and supplies. + * Functions as Operating Room Technician for dental cases in main and ambulatory Operating Room. + * Functions as Expanded Duties Auxiliary, and under supervision of Dentist, may remove sutures, fabricate vacuum formed appliances, and place matrices and temporary restorations. + * Assists with clerical duties such as answering phones, attending meetings, scheduling appointments, reviewing charts, etc. + Performs related duties, as required. *ADA Essential Functions Job Qualification + High School Diploma or equivalent, required. + Graduate from an accredited school of dental hygiene, required. + Licensed as a Dental Hygienist by the State of New York, required. + Prior experience, preferred. + Ability to operate x-ray and sterilization equipment, required. *Additional Salary Detail The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.When determining a team member's base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).
