Role Purpose
The Demand Planner is a key leader in the S&OP process, responsible for delivering accurate demand plans and driving alignment across Sales, Supply, and Finance. This role combines advanced analytical skills with strong facilitation and leadership capabilities to influence decisions at all levels, including senior leadership. You will own the demand planning process, champion best practices, and ensure that demand signals translate into actionable supply chain strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Forecasting & AnalyticsMaintain and continuously improve statistical forecasting models; deliver a robust rolling demand plan across short-, mid-, and long-term horizons.Monitor and improve forecast KPIs (MAPE, Bias, FVA) through structured root cause analysis and corrective actions.Perform advanced demand segmentation (ABC/XYZ), scenario planning, and sensitivity analysis to support strategic decisions.Translate demand scenarios into monetized outcomes with Finance (impact on revenue, margin, and working capital).S&OP LeadershipLead all key S&OP Review meetings with senior leaders; prepare executive-ready materials and drive consensus on the unconstrained demand signal.Ensure seamless handoff from Demand Review to Supply Review; escalate risks and trade-offs for decision-making.Act as the S&OP process owner for North American Deerland sites, ensuring governance, cadence, and data integrity.Cross-Functional IntegrationPartner with Sales/Commercial to capture reliable demand signals and manage key customer forecasts.Collaborate with Supply, Production, and Procurement to resolve supply-demand imbalances and mitigate risks.Understand production capabilities and constraints to ensure feasible plans and clear trade-off communication.Process & Capability BuildingDrive continuous improvement in forecasting accuracy, master data quality, and S&OP maturity.Develop and standardize planning playbooks, KPIs, and governance models.Coach and mentor peers and stakeholders on demand planning best practices and S&OP principles.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree required; Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or Engineering preferred.Experience: 5–10 years in supply chain or operations, with significant experience in demand planning and S&OP leadership.Proven ability to lead meetings with senior executives, influence decisions, and manage conflict constructively.Expertise in:Statistical forecasting and advanced planning techniques.End-to-end S&OP/S&OE processes and governance.Data modeling, scenario planning, and financial impact analysis.Strong facilitation, communication, and storytelling skills for executive audiences.Skills & ToolsAdvanced Excel; experience with Power BI/Tableau, SQL, and planning systems (SAP IBP, Kinaxis, OMP, etc.).Ability to simplify complex analytics into actionable insights and clear recommendations.Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills under pressure.Leadership Behaviors“We help each other thrive”:Provide support and training across business functions related to the Consensus Demand Planning process, including the link to the S&OP and S&OE processesDemonstrate Customer focus (internal and external as needed)“ We create the environment for diversity, equity and inclusion to strengthen us":Demonstrate cross-functional collaboration skillsAbility to listen intently and make room for different points of view to influence decisionsWhat Success Looks LikeForecast KPIs (MAPE, Bias, FVA) show sustained improvement.Demand Review meetings are strategic, decision-oriented, and trusted by senior leadership.S&OP process maturity improves with clear governance and accountability.Inventory health and service levels optimized through proactive demand-supply alignment.Excited about this role but don’t think you meet every requirement listed?
