Job Summary:

The Salesforce POD Leader is responsible for driving strategy, operations, resource planning, and capability development within a dedicated Salesforce delivery or product team. This role provides both strategic and operational leadership to ensure the POD delivers high-quality Salesforce solutions aligned with business objectives. The leader will oversee people management, optimize delivery processes, foster technical and professional growth, and ensure the POD operates with effectiveness, agility, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

1.      Strategic Leadership

Define the POD’s long-term strategy aligned with business goals, product vision, and enterprise architecture.Partner with business stakeholders to understand priorities and translate them into actionable delivery roadmaps.Ensure the Salesforce POD contributes to organizational digital transformation and customer experience objectives.Identify emerging Salesforce trends and recommend adoption strategies to enhance value delivery.

2.      Operational Excellence

Oversee daily POD operations, ensuring efficient and predictable delivery across projects or product increments.Establish and maintain delivery frameworks, including sprint planning, release management, and quality assurance.Drive continuous improvement through metrics, retrospectives, and best practices.Monitor risks, dependencies, and delivery constraints, ensuring timely mitigation.

3.      Resource & Capacity Management

Forecast POD resource needs across skill sets and roles based on the portfolio roadmap.Allocate talent effectively across projects or product workstreams to maximize utilization and team strengths.Collaborate with PMO, HR, and functional managers to secure needed resources or escalate gaps.Support planning for contractor vs. FTE strategy and workforce scaling.

4.      People Leadership & Team Development

Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and direction for Salesforce admins, developers, architects, BAs, and QA staff.Conduct performance reviews, career discussions, and development planning.Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance culture within the POD.Champion employee engagement, well-being, and retention.

5.      Capability & Skill Development

Identify skill gaps and lead the development of training, certifications, and cross-skilling plans.Ensure the team stays current with Salesforce releases, best practices, and new platform capabilities.Promote learning culture and encourage participation in Trailhead, CoE communities, and internal knowledge-sharing sessions.Partner with the Salesforce Center of Excellence (CoE) or enterprise architecture teams to align standards, governance, and reusable assets.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).17+ years in Salesforce delivery, product management, or enterprise systems leadership.Strong experience leading cross-functional technical teams in an agile or product-oriented environment.Proven track record in managing Salesforce resources, capacity, operations, and complex project delivery.Strong understanding of Salesforce platform architecture, capabilities, and release cycles.Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.Demonstrated ability to drive organizational change and champion process improvements.
