As a DCEO: Engineering Operations Technician – Water Engineer at AWS, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of water treatment systems and chemical processes across our data center fleet. This role combines expertise in water chemistry, treatment systems, and infrastructure management to ensure the reliable operation of AWS data centers
Key job responsibilities
Technical Leadership:
• Serve as the primary subject matter expert (SME) for water system infrastructure and chemical treatments
• Oversee critical systems including ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, and oxidant systems
• Develop and maintain Legionella prevention programs
• Implement Water Utilization Efficiency (WUE) improvements
Design & Engineering:
• Review and influence water chemistry and treatment designs for new facilities
• Coordinate with design engineering teams on system specifications
• Review construction documents and provide technical guidance
Operational Management:
• Manage preventative maintenance programs
• Create and implement standard operating procedures
• Monitor system performance and establish benchmarks
• Coordinate with operations managers and field engineering teams

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Process Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
• 2+ years of experience in water quality and chemical treatment systems
• Extensive knowledge of water treatment technologies and processes
• Experience with industrial water system design and operation
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with data center or critical infrastructure operations
• Knowledge of membrane-based treatment systems and advanced oxidation processes
• Familiarity with building management systems and controls
• Experience with performance-based design alternatives
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
