Datacenter Manager of Technical Operations

ADP is hiring a Manager of Technical Operations in our Alpharetta, GA office. This is a hybrid role requiring the individual to be in the office 4 days per week.

Location: Primary coverage in Alpharetta, GA and occasional travel to Sioux Falls, SD

Travel: Occasional travel between sites required (estimated 10–20%)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Center Critical Infrastructure Engineer with deep subject matter expertise in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the operations, reliability, performance, and maintenance of infrastructure systems.

This role focuses on ensuring 24x7 availability of critical systems including generators, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), chillers, cooling towers, switchgear, and other MEP components. The position requires strong technical acumen, operational discipline, and the ability to drive root-cause analysis, preventive maintenance, and system optimization. 

Key Responsibilities:

Lead critical infrastructure operations across both data centers, ensuring uptime, safety, and performance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for critical systems including: Generators and fuel systems UPS and battery systems (A/B power paths) Chillers, CRACs/CRAHs, and cooling towers Electrical distribution including switchgear, PDU, RPP Water treatment and HVAC controls Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance plans in alignment with manufacturer recommendations and industry standards. Conduct root-cause analysis of incidents and lead implementation of corrective actions. Support capital projects and retrofits, including infrastructure upgrades and capacity planning. Collaborate with facility vendors, engineering consultants, and service providers to ensure proper execution of maintenance and repair activities. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all infrastructure systems, configurations, and maintenance history. Monitor site conditions using BMS/EPMS platforms and respond to alarms and abnormal trends. Participate in on-call rotations and emergency response activities. Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and operational standards. ISO Audits Security Oversight 

Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in mission-critical data center environments, with proven hands-on work involving MEP systems. Strong technical background with experience in: Large-scale UPS systems (N+1, 2N configurations) Emergency power generation and fuel systems Chilled water systems, cooling towers, and HVAC controls Electrical distribution and grounding systems Experience with building management systems (BMS) and electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS). Ability to read and interpret one-line electrical diagrams, mechanical schematics, and construction drawings. Ability to work independently across sites, with strong organizational and time-management abilities. Willingness to travel periodically between Alpharetta, GA and Sioux Falls, SD.
