Amazon Fulfillment Technologies & Robotics - Central Support Team is currently looking for a Database Engineer position for it’s Hyderabad, India office to design, develop and manage the persistence solutions that serve and support FTR needs. Database engineer will be part of the worldwide operations and responsible for designing, managing and maintaining highly complex, confidential, mission critical and high availability databases in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
Key job responsibilities
- Ownership of huge fleet of databases, working on a variety of development and maintenance projects in coordination with project and application teams.
- Analyze and tune database performance for high-volume, mission-critical applications
- Implement and maintain database security measures, including access controls and encryption etc.
- Design and implement scalable solutions to accommodate increasing data volumes and user loads
- Develop and maintain tools and products for routine database administration and change management tasks
- Rapidly diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in high-pressure situations
- Participate in oncall operations on rotation basis (follow the sun model).
- Identify and implement best practices for database administration and engineering.
A day in the life
A typical day on our team involves collaborating with other engineers deploying new Databases through our large automated systems, and operationally supporting your newly deployed software. You will seek out new approaches to automate fixes for operational issues, use AWS services to solve design problems, and engage other internal teams to integrate your applications with theirs.

Platform Engineering Services - Database Team is responsible for Engineering, Architecture, operations ,support and Scaling of databases for Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT), WWCR (WW Customer Returns), Gift Cards and Amazon Payments systems.
Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience as a DBA, Database Engineer, or similar role is required.
- 2+ years of experience in Database migrations, Creation of Objects in SQL, NoSQL technologies.
- 1+ Experience with RDS (PostgreSQL, MySQL), Redshift and/or other RDBMS systems Experience in UNIX shell and SQL, and
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in supporting large-scale high-availability systems in a production environment.
- Worked or Contributed to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
- Experience with Amazon Web Services such as IAM, EC2, S3, CLI, SDK or equivalent cloud services.
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools, Development lifecycle & best practices for coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, Go, ReactJS.
- Excellent speaking-listening-writing skills, attention to details, proactive self-starter.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
