Overview: 

Database Administrator is responsible for management and maintenance of variety of database environments.  They are required to maintain adherence to the data management policy and ensure that databases are secure, backed up, and optimized.

Qualifications:

Education:

Minimum: Bachelor s degree in computer science, computer engineering, programming, or a related field

Work Experience:

Experience of SQL and SQL server toolsExcellent knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standardsUnderstanding of relational and dimensional data modelingExperience with variety of database technologies (including MySQL, Oracle)Familiarity with SSAS, SSIS, SSRS and other integration, reporting and analytical toolsExperience of working with on-prem and cloud based database technologiesPowerShell and Unix shell scripting skills

Key Competencies

Need to be conversant with structured query language (SQL) and relevant database technologiesExcellent problem-solving and analytical skillsBusiness awareness and understanding of business requirements of ITUnderstand coding and service managementGood communication, teamwork, and negotiation skills

Responsibilities

Assists in database support activitiesManage database accessBe available for on-call support as neededPerforms standard database maintenance and administration tasksUses database management system software and tools to collect performance statisticsDiagnose and troubleshoot database errorsDevelop processes for optimizing database securityDevelops and configures tools to enable automation of database administration tasksMonitors performance statistics and create reportsIdentifies and investigates complex problems and issues and recommends corrective actionsPerforms routine configuration, installation, and reconfiguration of database and related products
