Job Description Insight Global is seeking a Data Security Engineer to join one of our largest medical device clients. This resource is responsible for implementing, operating, and optimizing enterprise-grade solutions that identify and classify data across both structured and unstructured sources in hybrid and cloud environments. This role is highly technical and hands-on, executing discovery scans, configuring classification rules, tuning sensitivity labels, and refining tagging schemas to accurately identify sensitive data such as PII, PHI, PCI, and intellectual property. The engineer will build and automate classification workflows using enterprise tools, enhance classifier accuracy through tuning and model adjustments, and integrate outputs with downstream controls including DLP, access management, and reporting systems. This position also supports metadata capture, data lineage, and catalog updates while collaborating closely with data engineering, platform, and security teams to embed classification into data pipelines. Additionally, the role contributes to identifying and remediating data risks, supports audits and compliance assessments, and maintains all related technical documentation and operational processes. Skills and Requirements •Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field •6–8 years of experience in data engineering, data governance, data security, or related technical roles •Hands-on experience with data discovery and classification tools ( BigID (preferable), Informatica ) •Strong understanding of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data systems •Experience scanning databases, data lakes, file shares, and object storage •Working knowledge of data privacy and security concepts •Experience working in cloud or hybrid environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP) •Familiarity with data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Synapse, Redshift, or BigQuery •Exposure to DLP, information protection, or access governance solutions •Understanding of common regulatory requirements (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, PCI-DSS) •Relevant certifications (Azure/AWS Data or Security, CDMP, or privacy certifications) •Experience in Data Retention and deletion is a plus
