Aviva is seeking a Data Science Specialist who together with our Data Science community will be transforming IWR (Insurance, Wealth & Retirement) at Aviva.

 

We are offering this role to someone with an appetite for problem solving and interrogating data with practical experience in programming and data management skills.

What will you be doing?

Migrating and optimizing existing data workflows and ML models to ensure performance, compatibility, and functional parity.

Implementing automated model training and deployment pipelines aligned with best practices.

Setting up monitoring tools to track model performance and detect data or concept drift.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams and sharing knowledge to align infrastructure and deployment strategies.

Ensuring quality, consistency, and completeness of delivered solutions.

Participating in Aviva-led projects as business needs arise

What we’re looking for:

A Data Scientist with a strong technical foundation and hands-on experience in building scalable data solutions.

 

Must have:

3+ years of experience in data science, including ML model development, deployment, and working with large datasets

3+ years of Python programming experience, with solid software engineering practices

Practical experience with SQL-based tools (SQL, SparkSQL, PySpark)

Experience with automated model training, deployment, and monitoring workflows

 

Nice to have:

Educational background in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related field

Solid understanding of data quality principles, ensuring consistency, completeness, and reliability across data products and processes

Proficiency in Git workflows; experience with Azure DevOps (ADO) is a plus

Experience in API development and testing

Familiarity with Dataiku

 

Soft skills:

Proactiveness with a drive to initiate improvements and optimize processes across the data ecosystem

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex issues in distributed systems

Communication and collaboration skills

Continuous learning and adaptability mindset
