Role OverviewAs a HazardHub Summer Intern, you will work at the intersection of natural catastrophe risk, P&C insurance, and data-driven content. You will support the HazardHub team by creating articles, building and labeling datasets, and contributing to research projects that enhance our risk models and customer-facing experiences.
You will join a high-caliber team of data and product professionals focused on delivering innovative, customer-centric solutions. Key ResponsibilitiesContent Creation: Create high-quality natural catastrophe and P&C insurance articles that drive SEO and traffic to HazardHub.
Dataset Creation & Labeling: Create, clean, and label datasets for our risk models, supporting analytics and model development.
Data Mapping: Participate in data mapping exercises for third-party datasets to ensure they are usable in our products.
Client Mapping & Research: Dive deep into the global HazardHub client base to support strategic travel planning, customer engagement, and account insights.
Product Shipment Analysis: Develop a detailed inventory of historical HazardHub product shipments to support field enablement and account planning.
Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with team members to document processes, summarize findings, and present results in a clear, structured way.

Qualifications and RequirementsEducation: Degree Preferred - Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, Statistics, Geography, Environmental Science, Economics, Journalism, Communications, or a related discipline.
Writing & Research: Strong written communication skills with the ability to explain complex topics clearly, and experience conducting structured online research.
Data Skills: Comfort working with data in spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets); familiarity with basic data cleaning and organization.
Analytical Mindset: Ability to think critically about data quality, spot inconsistencies, and apply logical problem-solving to real-world datasets.
Curiosity About Risk & Insurance: Interest in natural catastrophes, crime, or P&C insurance risk, and a desire to learn how data and models inform decisions.
Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team, accept feedback, and iterate quickly in a fast-paced, learning-oriented environment.
Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills to share findings with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to embrace AI and apply it to your current role as well as data-driven insights to drive innovation, productivity, and continuous improvement.
Bonus PointsExperience with SEO, blogging, or writing educational articles for a general audience.
Familiarity with GIS, mapping tools, or spatial data.
Prior experience working with Python, R, or SQL for data analysis.
Exposure to insurance, catastrophe modeling, or related risk domains.
Previous internship or project experience in a data-centric or research-focused role.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $52,000 - $78,000 . Your base pay will depend on your experience, skills, education, training, and location among other factors. All full-time positions or part-time roles working 30 hours or more a week at Guidewire are eligible for benefits that support their health and well-being including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a company sponsored retirement plan. In addition, some roles may be eligible for the annual company bonus plan, commissions, and/or long term incentive awards which are contingent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, company and employee performance.Disability Accommodations and Guidewire’s Appeals Process.
