The Data Migration Lead is responsible for architecting and executing the secure, accurate, and complete migration of legacy mainframe data into a modern web-based platform. This role includes defining transformation logic, mapping strategies, auditability methods, and ensuring ongoing data governance and reporting alignment. The Data Migration Lead supports both cutover planning and long-term data lifecycle requirements in coordination with internal stakeholders.

HOW A DATA MIGRATION LEAD WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Analyzes customer requirements and provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problemsApplies knowledge of API (Application Programing Interface) for data services and databasesDesigns, develops, builds, analyzes, evaluates, installs and administers database management systems to include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation and configuration managementDesigns and implements databases on Azure Cloud with respect to access methods, access time, batch processes, device allocation, validation checks, organization, ETL tasks, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methodsPrepares system requirements, source analysis and process analyses and design throughout the database implementationDefines database organizations, standards, controls, procedures, and documentation - May provide technical consulting in the definition, design, and creation of a database environmentMaintains current knowledge of relevant technologyMay coach and provide guidance to less experienced professionalsMay serve as a team or task leadEnsure technical teams understand short term and long-term goals of the program and business efforts by facilitating communication between technical and non-technical stakeholdersAssesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectivesHelp clarify requirements and propose solutions that meet business milestones as well as directing the technical implementationsEngage current customers to understand critical needs, socialize and vet solutions, and advise on strategies to achieve desired resultsIdentify and select the best technical solutions and approaches to meet anticipated or actual requirementsWill jump in when necessary to help diagnose larger system issues and work with project managers to confidently complete projects on timeAdditional tasks will include helping to determine high-level and detailed estimates, creating technical workflow and other supporting documentation to help drive the implementation of large enterprise systems projects as well as helping to implement best practices around technical development and deployment

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education:

BA/BS degree (computer science/systems, information systems/technology, engineering/engineering technology, software, or related major)

Required Experience:

5+ years of technical leadership project experience providing guidance to Data Migration teamsCertified Data Management Professional (CDMP) (desired)SAFe Agilist (desired)SAFe DevOps Practitioner (desired)Other SAFe certifications will also be consideredEffective written and verbal communication skills (both technical and non-technical)IBM DB2 Mainframe:Proficiency with DB2 SQL data extract scripting.Experience with DB2 utilities for backup and restore purposes.Understanding of the IBM mainframe environment, including JCL (Job Control Language)Azure SQL Database:Knowledge in setting up and managing Azure SQL databases.Familiarity with Azure SQL Managed Instance or SQL Server on Azure VMs with SQL Server.Azure DatabricksAzure Synapse Analytics: Combine data integration, enterprise data warehousing, and big data analytics.Azure Cosmos DB:NoSQL database, understanding Cosmos DB's APIs and scaling.Azure Data Factory (ADF) and ETL Tools:Expertise in designing, implementing, and managing data pipelines.Understanding of Data Integration Service to create and schedule data-driven workflows in the cloud.Track record of leading and managing successful data migration team in an IBM Main frame modernizationDeep experience in developing and managing workflows, user interfaces, decision rules, and data modelsThorough understanding of and experience in software development lifecycle and Agile delivery methodology

Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprintingThis position has a U.S. residency requirement. The likely salary range for this position is $125,528 - $169,832. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
