Data Governance (GCV) Lead

Job Description & Summary

About the team

As a Data Governance Manager, you will be instrumental in streamlining and managing the governance processes and artefacts that support the network’s Global Controlled Vocabulary Service (GCVS).

You will collaborate with a variety of global stakeholders, including data domain owners and SMEs, the GCVS operations and system product team, as well as representatives from global consuming systems. Your role will involve championing the importance of global reference data across our network and coordinating efforts to improve data standardisation and data quality for downstream consumption. You will also work with the Enterprise Data Catalogue team to define requirements and workflows, supporting the transition to a more federated, domain-led governance model for global CVs.

Your work will require substantial stakeholder management, fostering collaboration and alignment across teams. In addition, you will have the opportunity to drive other data governance deliverables focused on domain-led data product standardisation and ownership, in line with the network’s data and AI enablement strategy.

Oversee and enhance governance processes to maintain consistent standards across a key global reference data service.

Improve data quality, streamline data adoption, and facilitate informed decision-making globally.

Drive stakeholder management and collaboration across various teams, including business teams, consuming system teams, and domain owners, to achieve organisational goals.

Work closely with operations and product teams to outline data governance requirements that support continuous improvement, including collaboration with the Enterprise Data Catalogue team.

Orchestrate the review of high-profile controlled vocabularies such as Global Product Codes and Industries.

Drive and manage strategic data governance initiatives focused on domain-led data product standardisation and ownership.

Ability to analyse complex data governance processes to identify opportunities and recommendations for improvement.

Proven ability to drive initiatives that enhance data standardisation and quality improvement, ensuring data is accurate, consistent, and reliable.

Stakeholder Management and Communication:

Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholder groups and drive alignment across teams, addressing business needs.

Ability to manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate cooperation to achieve organisational objectives.

Requirements of the role

5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field.

Bachelor's or master's degree in data science, business analytics, information systems, or computer science – or related subjects.

Familiarity with global data standards and reference data management approaches, as well as domain led governance and ownership.

Knowledge of PwC network organisation and global system landscape is preferred (if internal).

Proficiency in data governance frameworks and best practices, such as DAMA and CDMP, along with a good understanding of AI governance principles is preferred.

Experience with data management technologies and platforms that support governance initiatives, such as Collibra is desired.

Strong organisational skills to prioritise tasks and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Self-starter with the ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to navigate uncertainty and drive results despite evolving circumstances.
