Data Engineering Manager

Summary:

The Data Architect will play a strategic role in designing, optimizing, and scaling the enterprise data architecture that powers analytics, reporting, and advanced data products. This role partners closely with data engineering, analytics, business stakeholders, and platform teams to define modern data architecture patterns, ensure data quality, and develop scalable solutions on Snowflake, the organization’s enterprise data lake.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong business acumen, experience with cloud data platforms, and a passion for building robust, future-proof data ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Data Architecture

Design and maintain the end-to-end data architecture supporting enterprise analytics, data science, and reporting workloads.Define and enforce architectural standards, modeling strategies, and best practices across domains.Create logical, physical, and conceptual data models aligned with business processes and analytics use cases.Partner with data engineering and business teams to translate analytical needs into scalable data structures.

Snowflake Architecture & Optimization

Architect and optimize data storage, compute usage, and data processing pipelines within Snowflake.Implement Snowflake-specific best practices including:Warehouse sizing and scaling strategiesClustering keys and micro-partitioningSecure data sharing and role-based access controlMetadata and schema design within the enterprise data lakeEstablish data ingestion patterns using Snowpipe, Streams, Tasks, and Time-Travel capabilities.Optimize Snowflake cost, performance, and governance through ongoing monitoring and tuning.

Data Integration & ETL/ELT Architecture

Design data integration patterns for batch, near-real-time, and streaming pipelines.Collaborate with data engineers to develop reusable ETL/ELT frameworks and workflow orchestration patterns.Ensure data pipelines are scalable, resilient, and aligned with architectural guidelines.

Data Governance & Quality

Define data governance standards including naming conventions, data lineage, metadata, and quality checks.Partner with governance teams to implement master data, reference data, and security frameworks.Ensure compliance with enterprise security, privacy, and audit requirements.

Analytics & Business Enablement

Collaborate with analytics, BI, and data science teams to ensure architectures support reporting, ML, forecasting, and AI use cases.Provide guidance on semantic layer design, KPI standardization, and self-service enablement.Act as a data domain advisor, helping teams make architecture-aligned decisions.

Technology Leadership

Evaluate new tools, platforms, and methodologies to recommend improvements to the enterprise data ecosystem.Mentor data engineers and analysts on data modeling, architecture principles, and Snowflake best practices.Drive architectural reviews, data strategy discussions, and long-term roadmap planning.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related fields.8+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or analytics engineering roles.Strong expertise in Snowflake, including data modeling, optimization, performance tuning, and workload management.Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure - Preferred).Strong SQL skills and understanding of ELT/ETL design patterns.Experience with data modeling methodologies (Star/Snowflake schema, Data Vault, etc.).Understanding of streaming and batch data pipelines.Familiarity with tools such as dbt, Airflow, Matillion, Fivetran, Informatica, or equivalent.

SnowPro Architect or SnowPro Advanced certification.Experience with enterprise BI tools (Power BI, Thought Spot).Understanding of modern data mesh, data fabric, and domain-oriented architecture concepts.Experience building analytics for supply chain
