As a Data Engineer II at JPMorganChase within Corporate Technology, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the data collection, storage, access, and analytics solutions in a secure, stable, and scalable way.Job responsibilities
Organizes, updates, and maintains gathered data that will aid in making the data actionableSource, acquire, and prepare data from multiple internal and external sources, ensuring data is clean, reliable, and ready for engineering use.Perform exploratory data analysis, build queries, and generate insights to support engineering and business objectivesPartner with data owners, downstream customers, and engineers to understand requirements, resolve data issues, and ensure data solutions meet stakeholder needs.Demonstrates basic knowledge of the data system components to determine controls needed to ensure secure data accessDevelop and apply data quality checks, monitor data integrity, and proactively address data anomalies.Identify and implement opportunities to automate and optimize data preparation and integration processes, reducing manual prework for engineers.Be responsible for making custom configuration changes in one to two tools to generate a product at the business or customer requestUpdates logical or physical data models based on new use cases with minimal supervision
Maintain clear documentation of data sources, processes, and data flows. Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Formal training or certification on data engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience5+ years in a data-focused role (e.g., Data Analyst, Data Engineer, Data Strategist) within a technology or engineering environment.Strong experience with data acquisition, preparation, and analysis using tools such as Databricks, SQL, Python, or similar.Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage relationships with stakeholders.Proven track record of identifying and implementing process improvements in data workflows.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data concepts to diverse audiences.Advanced at SQL (e.g., joins and aggregations)Working understanding of NoSQL databasesSignificant experience with statistical data analysis and ability to determine appropriate tools to perform analysisBasic knowledge of data system components to determine controls needed Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills Experience working in large, matrixed organizations, preferably in financial services or technology.Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, QlikView) and cloud data platforms.Experience with data governance, data quality frameworks, and metadata management.Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.Self-starter mindset with a passion for data-driven innovation.
