Job Description

GDIT is looking for an Associate Data Engineer to support a complex scalable data lake project that provides business intelligence, analytics and data products to the customer’s mission. This person should embody a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and implement methods for data collection and reliability.Analyzes raw data sources to develop and maintain datasets for transforming into useful data systems.Develop complex data flows or makes significant enhancements to existing pipelines.Resolves complex hardware/software compatibility and interface design considerations.Conducts investigations and tests of considerable complexity.Identifies ways to Improve data quality and efficiency.Research emerging technologies to determine meaningful upgrades to project.Provides input and is involved in writing and updating technical documentation.Troubleshoots complex problems and provides customer support for the ETL processCollaborate with fellow data engineers and data analysts

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to perform root cause analysis on external and internal processes and data to identify opportunities for improvement and answer questionsExcellent analytic skills associated with troubleshoot Linux systemsExperience performing configuration management (e.g., package installation, starting of services, installing scripts or config files)Experience with ETL process

Required Experience & Required Knowledge / Skills:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience1+ years of related software engineering, ETL, and/or data science experience.Excellent organizational, coordination, interpersonal and team building skills.Location: On Customer SiteUS Citizenship Required

Desired Knowledge/Skills:

Experience with the following languages: PowerShell, SQL, XML, XQuery, XPath, Ruby on Rails, HTML/XHTML, CSS, Python, Shell Scripting, JSONKnowledge of servers operating systems; Windows, Linux, Distributed Computing, Blade Centers, and cloud infrastructureUnderstanding of Agile and/or use of JIRAStrong problem-solving skillsAbility to comprehend database methodologiesFocus on continual process improvement with a proactive approach to problem solvingAbility to follow directions and finish task
