Data Engineer

In this role, you’ll join a collaborative technology team within Schwab Technology Services, building reliable data products that support critical decisions across the business. You’ll partner closely with talented engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders, leveraging modern cloud technologies to design and deliver high‑quality data solutions. If you thrive in a supportive culture that values learning, fresh thinking, and the opportunity to “own your tomorrow,” this is a role where you can truly make a difference. **Key Responsibilities** + Creation and maintenance of enterprise data assets, reporting, and data analytics that support business leaders in decision‑making, regulatory reporting, and continuous process improvement. + Work closely with business and other stakeholders to understand needs and ensure accurate implementation. + Perform ETL design, development, data management, and data analysis. + Create data models, conduct performance tuning, develop load plans, and ensure deliverables meet both functional and non‑functional requirements. + Provide guidance and technical oversight to junior engineers and vendor contractors. + Collaborate with onshore and offshore teams to ensure timely delivery of high‑quality data engineering solutions. + Ensure system alignment to architecture policies and best practices; follow process methodologies during system development. + Identify opportunities for system reuse and simplification. **What you have** **Required Qualifications** + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. + 5+ years of experience in development, support, and maintenance of ETL and database applications. + 2+ years of hands‑on experience with GCP (GCS, BigQuery, Dataproc). + 2+ years of hands‑on experience with IDMC (Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud). + 2+ years of experience with Control‑M. + Strong SQL knowledge and shell scripting skills. + Working knowledge of Agile methodologies. + Familiarity with SCM/DevOps tools such as Git, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, and Bamboo. + Strong critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills with the ability to analyze and understand data. **Preferred Qualifications** + Experience in the financial services industry. + Ability to interpret trends and metrics to drive actionable insights. + Python scripting experience. + Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
