Data Engineer / Technical Support Engineer – Client Facing (Remote – UK)

Location: 3 days per week in the office (Office in Birmingham, UK)
Contract: 6-Month Contract
Rate: £400 per day – Inside IR35

Role Overview:

We are looking for a highly motivated and technically proficient Data Engineer or Technical Support Engineer to join our team. This is a dynamic client-facing role where you will work closely with our customers to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to the Prophecy IDE and its integrations with third-party tools. You’ll be working with a cutting-edge data integration platform while providing best-in-class support to customers using our solutions in mission-critical environments.

You will be working alongside a team of talented engineers who share a passion for solving complex challenges. Your role will allow you to have a direct impact on the future of data engineering, contributing to the innovation of our product and ensuring its continued success in the market.

Key Responsibilities:

Troubleshoot and resolve complex customer issues related to the Prophecy IDE and its integrations. Assist with third-party integrations and troubleshoot issues across customer environments. Reproduce customer bugs in both production and sandbox environments to identify root causes and build documentation. Communicate effectively with customers, setting clear expectations and delivering timely solutions. Provide proactive suggestions to improve performance and efficiency in customer environments. Document solutions, create knowledge articles, and maintain company documentation. Serve as a customer advocate, ensuring their needs and concerns are effectively communicated and resolved. Coach and mentor junior team members as necessary, helping them develop technical skills and grow within the company. Develop deep expertise in IDE’s architecture and administration to provide the highest level of support.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

4+ years of experience in troubleshooting and supporting B2B enterprise applications. Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with Spark. Experience building, maintaining, and debugging DBT pipelines. Strong proficiency in developing, monitoring, and debugging ETL jobs. Deep understanding of SQL and experience with Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, Azure, Hadoop, or CDP environments. Hands-on technical support experience, including escalation management and adherence to SLAs. Familiarity with CI/CD technologies and version control systems like Git. Expertise in cloud, on-prem, and hybrid architecture setups. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to break down complex technical concepts for stakeholders. Entrepreneurial mindset, thriving in a fast-paced, unstructured startup environment. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Qualifications:

Full-stack data platform knowledge. Experience working with OAuth/OIDC and IAM technologies. Familiarity with Grafana, Datadog, or similar monitoring tools. Prior experience developing pipelines in Prophecy IDE.
