Amazon Worldwide Operations Security (WWOS) is seeking an experienced, innovative, and strategic Data Engineer to join our Global Security Risk & Resilience (GSRR) team. As global supply chains have grown increasingly complex and vulnerable to external disruption, this role has become critical to our operations.
We are seeking a talented and versatile Data Engineer II who combines strong technical expertise with excellent collaboration skills. The ideal candidate should have experience designing scalable data pipelines, implementing ETL processes, and working with big data technologies, along with proficiency in SQL, Python, and AWS cloud solutions. You should be able to translate complex business requirements into efficient technical solutions, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and influence through data-driven insights. This high-visibility role offers significant ownership, Amazon-wide impact, and senior leadership exposure, perfect for someone who can mentor others, drive results, and is passionate about solving complex data challenges. In this role, you will leverage your data engineering expertise to address the evolving challenges faced by our customers, scale data services to meet changing needs and demands and implement innovative solutions to enhance the security and resilience of our global operations

Key job responsibilities
Develop and maintain robust ETL/ELT processes for diverse data sources using SQL, scripting, and AWS big data technologies
- Design and implement DE solutions that align with business needs and technical standards
- Collaborate cross-functionally with business owners, developers, and BI Engineers to explore new data sources and deliver actionable insights
- Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex data-related issues, enhancing system autonomy and team productivity
- Ensure data security and govern access to large datasets across the organization
- Optimize data models and query performance for efficient data processing and analysis
- Develop and maintain documentation for data pipelines, processes, and systems
- Balance multiple priorities and manage end-to-end delivery of data engineering projects
- Contribute to data governance policies and ensure compliance with data standards and regulations
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in data engineering
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
- Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)
