This position is ideal for candidates with foundational data engineering skills who are eager to deepen their expertise in cloud technologies and scalable data systems. **Job Description** **AECOM** is seeking a talented Data Cloud Engineer to join our growing team of analytics experts. As a Data Engineer, your primary focus will be on leveraging cloud platforms to build and maintain robust data solutions. You will: 1. Cloud-Based Data Infrastructure: + Design and implement scalable data storage solutions using cloud services such as AWS S3, Azure Data Lake, or Google Cloud Storage. + Build and manage cloud-based data warehouses (e.g., Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse Analytics). + Optimize cloud resources for performance and cost-efficiency. 2. Data Pipeline Development: + Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using cloud-native tools (e.g., AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory). + Automate data ingestion and transformation processes from diverse sources, ensuring scalability and reliability. 3. Cloud Orchestration & Automation: + o Implement workflow orchestration using tools like Apache Airflow, AWS Step Functions, or Google Composer. + o Automate deployment and monitoring of data solutions using CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation). 4. Data Governance & Security: + Ensure data security and compliance with cloud-specific best practices (e.g., IAM roles, encryption, access controls). + Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and infrastructure using cloud-native monitoring tools (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Google Stackdriver). 5. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: + Work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver cloud-based solutions. + Provide documentation and technical support for cloud data systems. 6. Continuous Learning: + Stay updated on emerging cloud technologies and data engineering best practices. + Participate in team knowledge-sharing sessions and contribute to code reviews. This position will offer a hybrid work schedule, including both remote and in office work arrangements based from our office in Bucharest. **Qualifications** **Here is what you will do:** + Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience). + Cloud Platform Expertise: hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform). + Familiarity with cloud-native data services (e.g., AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, Google BigQuery). + Understanding of cloud networking and security principles (e.g., VPCs, IAM roles, encryption). + Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, or Scala. + Strong SQL skills for querying and managing relational databases. + Experience with data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark or Kafka. + Basic knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control tools (e.g., Git). Soft Skills: + Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. + Effective communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams. + A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt.
