In this role, you will design, implement, and optimize cloud-based data solutions that support our business objectives. This position is ideal for candidates with foundational data engineering skills who are eager to deepen their expertise in cloud technologies and scalable data systems. **Job Description** **AECOM** is seeking a talented Data Cloud Engineer to join our growing team of analytics experts. As a Data Engineer, your primary focus will be on leveraging cloud platforms to build and maintain robust data solutions. You will: 1. Cloud-Based Data Infrastructure: + Design and implement scalable data storage solutions using cloud services such as AWS S3, Azure Data Lake, or Google Cloud Storage. + Build and manage cloud-based data warehouses (e.g., Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse Analytics). + Optimize cloud resources for performance and cost-efficiency. 2. Data Pipeline Development: + Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using cloud-native tools (e.g., AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory). + Automate data ingestion and transformation processes from diverse sources, ensuring scalability and reliability. 3. Cloud Orchestration & Automation: + o Implement workflow orchestration using tools like Apache Airflow, AWS Step Functions, or Google Composer. + o Automate deployment and monitoring of data solutions using CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation). 4. Data Governance & Security: + Ensure data security and compliance with cloud-specific best practices (e.g., IAM roles, encryption, access controls). + Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and infrastructure using cloud-native monitoring tools (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Google Stackdriver). 5. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: + Work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver cloud-based solutions. + Provide documentation and technical support for cloud data systems. 6. Continuous Learning: + Stay updated on emerging cloud technologies and data engineering best practices. + Participate in team knowledge-sharing sessions and contribute to code reviews. This position will offer a hybrid work schedule, including both remote and in office work arrangements based from our office in Bucharest. **Qualifications** **Here is what you will do:** + Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience). + Cloud Platform Expertise: hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform). + Familiarity with cloud-native data services (e.g., AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, Google BigQuery). + Understanding of cloud networking and security principles (e.g., VPCs, IAM roles, encryption). + Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, or Scala. + Strong SQL skills for querying and managing relational databases. + Experience with data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark or Kafka. + Basic knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control tools (e.g., Git). Soft Skills: + Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. + Effective communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams. + A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt.
