What this job involves: This role is critical to maintaining the operational excellence of JLL's data center facilities. As a Data Center Technician, you will ensure the seamless operation of mission-critical infrastructure through hands-on technical support, equipment maintenance, and client service delivery. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology while directly contributing to JLL's reputation for exceptional data center management and client satisfaction.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Handle tape backup media and prepare for offsite storage while maintaining strict data security protocols
Perform remote hands support including power cycles, physical equipment inspections, component replacements, and cable testing
Execute hardware installations through rack and stack procedures in compliance with data center standards
Install, route, terminate, and test cable infrastructure while following EIA/TIA-568 cabling best practices
Support Service Manager processes by creating, updating, and closing service requests, incidents, and change tickets
Coordinate incoming shipments, verify purchase order accuracy, and manage inventory through SRM receipt processes
Conduct physical audits and maintain accurate Service Manager database records to ensure operational integrity
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent education level
2+ years of experience as a data center technician or similar role in mission-critical environments
Thorough understanding of IT hardware skills including HP, Cisco, and other enterprise equipment
Working knowledge of network cabling diagnostics, testing practices, and LAN/WAN/Telephony concepts
Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and perform hands-on technical tasks in data center environments
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office suite, particularly Word and Excel applications
Understanding of electrical theory concepts including single phase, 3 phase, amperage, and receptacle types
Preferred Qualifications:
2-year technical degree or equivalent work experience in related technical disciplines
Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Excellent organizational skills and methodical approach to following established procedures
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a global team structure
Experience multitasking in high-pressure situations with full project ownership capabilities
