Data Center Technical Operations Engineer – Facility

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Center Technical Operations Engineer to support mission‑critical facility operations. This role oversees maintenance, safety, vendor coordination, and performance optimization across all critical infrastructure systems. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, demonstrates strong leadership ability, and is committed to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
+ Oversee shift technicians, lead technicians, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring all work meets established standards and safety procedures.
+ Monitor, operate, and maintain critical infrastructure systems, including:
+ Switchgear
+ Generators
+ UPS systems
+ Power distribution units
+ Chillers and cooling towers
+ CRAH/CRAC units
+ Building automation and monitoring systems
+ Establish metrics and benchmarks for facility operations, preparing detailed performance and efficiency reports.
+ Partner with IT and business leadership to manage capacity, coordinate projects, and maintain system reliability.
+ Support build‑out and commissioning of new data center facilities when needed.
+ Participate in initiatives that improve facility performance, efficiency, and resiliency.
+ Manage inventory and critical assets across the facility.
+ Assist with recruiting and onboarding new technical staff.
+ Ensure high‑quality service delivery and timely response to operational needs.
Basic Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s Degree or Technical/Military/Trade School Degree with relevant experience.
+ 2–4 years of relevant technical experience.
+ 2–4 years of leadership or management experience.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
+ Ability to prioritize and operate effectively in a fast‑paced, complex environment.
Preferred Qualifications
+ 2–4 years of data center engineering experience.
+ 2–4 years of data center management experience.
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
+ Working knowledge of network design, infrastructure layouts, and low‑voltage copper/fiber cabling.

This is a Contract position based out of Ashburn, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
