Data Center Structured Cabling-Senior Estimator I

Summary: 

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Senior Estimator on our Data Center Structured Cabling Team to provide leadership, coordination, and final preparation of full estimates on large and complex work projects. Excellent communication skills are necessary as you will be interacting with staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment. Your ability to remain flexible, inventive, dedicated, and efficient with a high level of integrity and confidentiality will be vital to your success.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in low voltage systems, including voice/data cabling, fiber optics, and related infrastructure, with a proven ability to lead estimating efforts from conceptual design through final bid. Experience with both self-perform work and subcontracting is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Organization, flexibility, outstanding customer focus and strong communication are critical in performing duties which may include:

Lead team members 

Responsible for the direction, training, mentoring, management, and timely performance evaluation of estimators.

Lead estimating efforts on difficult projects

Provide conceptual estimates, detailed estimates, detailed self-perform work estimates and cost modelsOrganize, research, and strategically plan for estimate preparation, pricing, scheduling, and final submission to the customerChoose subcontractors to include in bidding processFigure out pricing for the final estimateProvide work assignments to the estimating team and ensure accurate estimating information provided is incorporated into final estimateIncludes, but not limited to: quantity surveys and cost estimates, subcontractor proposals, research on tax laws, collective bargaining agreements, permits, etc. Write and submit Request for Information

Maintain regular interface and open communication 

Interface regularly with team members, owners, architects, and engineers to ensure complete understanding of the project scopeEnsure that team members, including subcontractors, understand initial project requirements and ongoing updates to those requirements

Other duties, as assigned including 

Research and analyze historical project data for application to current projectAssist in selecting building systemsHelp select software programs to utilizeAssist in project scheduling

QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or similar or equivalent experienceLEED AP, DBIA professional, preferred9 years construction estimating experienceOrganized and detailed with ability to fulfill all responsibilities for multiple, complex projectsPossess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practicesPositive professional attitude, and strong customer service skillsStrong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skillsApplicable mathematical skillsProficient with building/estimating techniques and software: ISqFt, ICE/Bid2Win, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Bluebeam/PDF, Google EarthCurrent driver’s license

The base compensation range for this role is: $125,000 - $187,500 (Actual range is higher for the following office locations:  Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%)  

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skill and experience with consideration given to internal equity.
