Data Center Project Manager (Contract)
Location: On-site — Franklin Township, NJ 08873
Duration: 12-month contract
About the Role
TEKsystems is seeking an experienced Data Center Project Manager to lead planning and execution for data center initiatives across multiple sites. This role requires strong project leadership, hands-on coordination, vendor management, and executive-ready communication. You’ll manage complex timelines, budgets, and deliverables while partnering closely with internal IT, sourcing, legal, engineering, and construction teams.
Key Responsibilities
+ Develop and maintain high-level and detailed project plans, budgets, schedules, and deliverables for data center builds and components.
+ Coordinate activities across internal IT departments, engineering design teams, general contractors, and external vendors.
+ Oversee and execute RFP processes for new vendors; manage vendor performance throughout construction and implementation.
+ Collaborate with Sourcing and Legal to negotiate lease terms and contractual agreements.
+ Manage construction of newly built-out sites, directly or via general contractors; ensure adherence to safety and construction best practices.
+ Provide clear, timely status communications to project teams and stakeholders; deliver high-level presentations.
+ Tailor existing PM best practices (PMBOK-aligned) to fit project needs; drive operational readiness.
+ Maintain and enhance the project SharePoint site for documentation, reporting, and cross-team collaboration.
+ Ensure on-time delivery of all IT-related milestones and handoffs.
+ Support data center strategy and planning, including logistics and structured cabling dependencies.
Required Qualifications
+ 5+ years of professional experience with data center projects and operations.
+ 3+ years of project coordination/task management** with multi-site, multi-project oversight.
+ Proven leadership and organizational skills; strong ownership and execution.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable with high-level presentations and stakeholder management.
+ Solid understanding of construction methodologies and safety standards in data center contexts.
+ Proficiency with MS Office and collaboration tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, and Project.
+ Experience developing technical specifications and documentation.
+ Bachelor’s degree (preferably in an engineering discipline).
Preferred Qualifications
+ PMP certification and working knowledge of PMBOK principles.
+ Experience with Structured Cabling Systems.
+ Strong grasp of data center best practices (power, cooling, space, cabling, resiliency, and operational readiness).
+ Experience driving data center strategy and planning, budgeting, and executive communications.
Logistics & Travel
+ On-site presence required most of the time at the Franklin Township location.
+ Local travel to office/data center sites is expected; occasional out-of-area travel may be required.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr.
